Have you ever walked into a store and felt completely lost? No signs, no help, just frustration? It’s easy to walk right back out. Now, imagine if church felt that way—confusing, unwelcoming, difficult to navigate. No one intends for that to happen, but sometimes we make faith harder for people to grasp than it should be.

James, the half-brother of Jesus, made a bold statement in Acts 15:19 (NLT): “We should not make it difficult for the Gentiles who are turning to God.” In other words, faith should be accessible. People should see Jesus through us, not be turned away because of unnecessary barriers. And the best way to help others find faith? We grow in our own.

When Jesus walked the earth, He was amazed by two things: great faith and lack of faith. A Roman officer trusted that Jesus could heal his servant with just a word, and Jesus was amazed at his faith (Matthew 8:10, NLT). But in His hometown, people doubted Him—and Jesus was amazed at their unbelief (Mark 6:6, NLT). If Jesus looked at my life, I wonder—would He be amazed by my faith or my doubt?

Growing in faith isn’t just about learning more. It’s about trusting more, stepping out more, and becoming a person whose life reflects Jesus. When we do that, our faith becomes irresistible to the people around us. They may not believe what we believe—yet—but they’ll see something real in us, something they want to be true.

So, what’s one small step you can take this week to grow? Maybe it’s reading your Bible consistently, praying more intentionally, or serving in a way that stretches you. Faith that grows isn’t just for us—it’s how we help others find a place to belong.
